What a wonderful car! When it runs it is great.
There is only one drawback; when the car needs repairs, most shops
do not know how to work on them and the parts are very expensive.
We specialize in these cars.They are even sent all over America to
us because we are efficient and cost effective.
Here are some examples:
1) The wire harness is defective on a 93 600SL # 129 540 1506; the
dealer price is $3100, plus 43 hours labor; so you are looking at
around $7000. And on top of that, the Mercedes dealer does not have
that part, it is on back order.
Well, we have it in stock! We charge only $3800 for the repairs,
parts, and labor.
2) Throttle body actuators # 000 141 5525 and 000 141 5625; the
dealer price is $3800 each, but we charge only $400-$1400 each to
repair them; depending what is defective. If you want to buy them
from us it is $1400, plus a $500 refundable core charge; or you can
send them in, and it will be between $400 -$1400 for repairs. If you
want an estimate, it is $200 each, which will be credited towards
the repair.
Why it goes bad
You might ask " why is there such a price span?" Here is the
technical information: you have a 12 volt circuit and a 2.7 volt
circuit. The inside wire comes apart, and the 12 volt goes in the
2.7 circuit. That often damages the electro magnetic clutch (2.7
volt does not like 12 volts), the main circuit board and the
potentiometer. In some cases, it will shorten out the E Gas Computer
( which is $5600 from the dealer), and in some cases the ASR
computer. We repair these too, of course.
The good part is you have the harness and TBA's repaired, and the
car lasts a long, long time. I have seen 600's with over half a
million miles with one engine; and they have great gas mileage on
the highway.

Some shops are great and for some shops should not even touch V12
Mercedes.
If they do not have a Star Diagnostic System,HHT or a WinStar (there
is one company that claims they have the software too, but we did
not tested it), X431,CS2000 and Launch will is not enough, do not
let them work on the car.
